IDFI has been actively observing the challenges of the bureaucratic system in Georgia over the years.Monitoring results show that the maintenance and purchase of new state vehicles continues to involve considerable expenses, pointing to a serious challenge and the necessity by the government to create a more efficient system of state vehicle management.
The Georgian legislation envisions creation of a Working Group by the Legal Committee in the process of selection of Supreme Court justices. The purpose of the Working Group is to check candidates’ compliance with the requirements of the Constitution and supporting legislation.
On May 10, 2019, the High Council of Justice (HCoJ) commenced the process of selection of Supreme Court judicial candidates to be nominated to the Parliament of Georgia. The process lasted for 4 months and was finalized on September 4, 2019.

Paata Salia, the new General-Director of Rustavi 2 TV, dismissed Nodar Meladze, the Head of TV's News Department, and TV anchor Nanuka Zhorzholiani. Moreover, Eka Kvesitadze, Giorgi Gabunia and Giorgi Laperashvili, the Deputy General-Director, will be fired as soon as they return from vacation.

We, the signatory organizations of the statement, respond to the decision of the Tbilisi City Court, based on which Zviad Kuprava was sentenced to imprisonment. We find that the incident is a dangerous precedent of limiting freedom of expression in the country.

The Coalition for an Independent and Transparent Judiciary responds to the commencement of the selection of Supreme Court Justices and calls on two members of the High Council of Justice (the Council) to recuse themselves from the next stages of the review.
We call on the law enforcement bodies to carry out all the necessary measures to, on the one hand, hold the perpetrators of the violence responsible before the law and, on the other, to ensure that the Tbilisi Pride Week is held in a peaceful environment.
